Daily journeys to the studio provide inspiration in the adventures that occur in differing pathways, responses and happenings, where the same cultural environment provides a multitude of stimuli.
1900 steps uses a GPS device to record and 'draw' the pathways from home to studio. These drawings become a trace of journey and the surrounding environmental systems of house, road, and movement possibility. They are recreated in ceramic to further modify and capture some essence of the experiences they reference.
The packing crates also become a part of the work, where they enable the sculptures to create journeys of their own - the journey of a journey - which ultimately questions the lived experience as material culture and individuals intersect and influence one another.
